What is a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB)?
A CSSGB or Certified Six Sigma Green Belt is a Professional who has gained peer recognition based on their understanding and application of the Six Sigma, Lean, Continuous Improvement and Quality Principles outlined by the American Society for Quality, ASQ.
Certified Six Sigma Green Belts (CSSGBs) are professionals who have demonstrated that they are proficient in the knowledge and application of certain Six Sigma and Quality ideas and principles.
Notice I said professionals here, and I say that because anybody can become a CSSGB.
Having a pre-existing degree in Engineering is not required to become a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
CSSGBs, regardless of industry, utilize their skills in a few, if not all, of the ASQ CSSGB BoK Pillars:
The 5 Steps to Become A Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
Step 1: Ensure That You’re Qualified to Take the Exam
You must be eligible to become a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, and there is 1 major requirements:
3 Years of On-the-job Experience in one or more areas of the Six Sigma Green Belt Body of Knowledge.
Step 2: Apply for the Exam & Become an ASQ Member
There are several frequently-asked questions regarding the application process for the GB exam. If you’re interested in learning about the application process or have any questions, I would strongly recommend checking the FAQ page.
When you’re ready to apply, or just interested in checking out the process more, here is the ASQ CSSGB Application.
You’ll have to decide first if you want to become an ASQ member, and I would highly recommend becoming a member.
Why? – It’s cheaper to become a Member!
